#10: May, 13- BELLAVISTA πΏππΊππ¦
1) What was your favorite part of Bella Vista and why?
It's hard for me to choose just one thing that was my favorite part of Bellavista... I loved the humming birds up by the lodge, what beautiful and delicate creatures they are! I also loved our guide Richard, I was lucky to have been up near him the whole hike, and his life intrigued me greatly. I think my favorite part was walking through the streams, scaling the waterfalls, and also discovering new plants and insects along the way. The beauty of the forest and the nature within it will always have a place in my heart.
2) What was the biggest challenge you encountered in the cloud forest, and how did you overcome it?
I think the biggest challenge for me was soaking it all in, and not thinking about the fact that we couldn't stay there longer. I loved everything about that place, and I did not want to leave. At the same time, it was important for me to enjoy the experience and live in the moment. My goal is to go back there again someday in the near future, and share the amazing cloud forest with others.
3) How has your thinking about culture and communication changed this week, and what would you like to accomplish next week?
My thinking of culture and communication has changed in the sense that I am becoming even more open to accepting the way others live their lives, even if it's nothing like my own life and culture. No matter what a persons situation is, they are entitled to their way of life, and they choose this for themselves. There is no wrong or right. Even if I can't verbally communicate with other cultures the way I would like to, there are always other ways to communicate and share thoughts and ideas.
Next week I would like to continue to broaden my openness to different ways of life, and not judge others or things I see. I want to put myself in their shoes and be considerate, while contining to try new things whenever I get the chance.
