#5: May, 8, Pinchincha Hike

1) What has been your greatest challenge in Ecuador so far? How are you meeting it?

I think that the biggest challenge in Ecuador for me so far, would be communicating and understanding conversations with my host family and people around me. I can definitely understand a fair amount of conversation when I am listening, but formulating sentences and responding is still difficult for me. I am being very diligent about my Spanish class and studying in order to soak up as much knowledge and information that I can during my time here. I can see small progressions each day, and I am looking forward to getting better throughout our stay in Ecuador.

2) What was your favorite part of  your first Spanish class today?

My favorite part of Spanish class today was working through problems and worksheets together, and being asked individual questions by the professor. Although I get nervous being called on, it really helped me gain experience in understanding and responding back on my own. Listening to others really helped a lot too. I enjoyed going over the different tenses and verbs to review conjugation and such, which will further help my Spanish progressions.

3) What will you remember most about our trip to the teleferiqo?

I think that I will remember David the most. He is so intelligent and such a wonderful human being to know. I was fortunate enough to ride up and down in the cable car with him while sharing intriguing and worldly conversation together. He is so genuine, and I loved getting to know him. I will definitely remember the clouds and the fog covering the mountain. Never will I forget that sight. I will also remember when the clouds cleared, and the beautiful view we got to capture in our minds and in photos. Seeing the Carunculated Caracara, or bird on the mountain was amazing. The nature and surroundings were incredible, and I will never forget the hike  of Pinchincha, and the wonderful company I had with me.
