#8: May, 11- Communication/hypothesis
The Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis, is known as language shaping culture, and this helps explain our communication with the kids at Neque because the children speak a different language than we do. Because we speak a different language than the children, it is hard to communicate verbally. The children are also a part of a different culture because they speak Spanish, while we are a part of a different culture because we speak English. Although we have different cultures and can not communicate very much verbally, it creates a new mediating culture between the children and us. This mediation is a language of non verbal communication through body language, and other gestures.
