#9: May 12, Mitad Del Mundo

 1) What was the most surprising information you learned at Mitad del Mundo?

Some of the most surprising information I learned about the equator, would definitely be the fact that the actual latitude line lies somewhere inbetween the geographical point and the governmental point of the two different locations. I was also very surprised when I learned that the North Star is too far north to see in Ecuador. Another interesting thing I learned was how indigenous tribes used to shrink people's heads and wear them as necklaces! I find this so bizarre, especially the process of it all.

 2) What was your perception of the food during our dinner at Mama Clorinda? (Which food(s) did you try that took you out of your comfort zone? Which were your favorites?)

My perception of the food during dinner at Mama Clorinda's was: WOW! It was so delicious and authentic. I feel like most traditional Ecuadorian food is very healthy, including mostly vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. I like the idea of having multiple courses during a meal, and enjoyed the soups and appetizers very much. Outside of my comfort zone for trying food, may have been the figs because I have never had them, and most definitely the cow tongue! 😱 My favorite would have to be the sea bass and the traditional shrimp soup, Shivochi 🍜 🍤
