Guayasamin's artwork is very emotional. He portrays the people in some sort of emotional pain. He even incorporates how the people felt during the political movements and through the mass killings. He seemed to have a personal reaction to all the death around him. He had some pieces that represented hope, tenderness and love. All he wanted was to have world peace some day. With every painting or sculpture he created, he wanted to show the feelings and emotions, not just the persons face in a photogenic way. He wanted to show how they appeared on the inside.

He was very important because he values art, as well as stands up for how he feels the world should be. He collected pre-Colombian artwork, as well as painted very controversial pieces. He wanted to show how the people really felt through all the political corruption and show that there are many people who want there to be world peace. He was also very humble from the quotes that he wrote.

The painting is controversial because it is saying that the Colombian leader should've been killed and that he was a very awful person. It made the Colombian people feel offended and disliked. When in reality it was against the leader, not the people as a whole.
