The most interesting thing I learned at Mitad del Mundo was definitely that the people used to create shrunken heads. It's slightly odd to me that they would do it to people that were very important, as well as those who were captured. They sewed their mouths shut after taking the bones out of the head to keep in the wisdom or evil spirits. I also found it interesting that they would wear the heads around their neck as almost if it were a prize. The whole process seems very difficult, and I'm amazed that it actually worked. I am glad though that it is not still practiced today on humans.

The food at Mama Clorindas was very delicious. I was pretty nervous at first when I saw that a lot of it was fish and meat, since I do not eat either of them. I am not very comfortable with trying new things, especially lots of new things at once, but I tried everything that was considered vegetarian. I actually liked everything I tried, except for the chiviche. I loved the empanadas and soup. Also, I ended up stepping even more out of my comfort zone and tried fish for the first time. I had sea bass and much to my surprise, it was very good. I am considering becoming a pescatarian instead of only a vegetarian. I am so thankful for the opportunity to try new things and expand my food options so much.
