Our class trip to Mitad Del Mundo was full of new information and new sights. Information that was surprising for me to learn was about shrunken heads. My dead had in the past talked about wanting to see a shrunken head in person and I would ask about if they were real and he would say “of course they are.” I always just thought that he was joking and the ones in pictures are just made from animal skin and fur. Our guide as Mitad del Mundo talked about the process and history of shrunken heads as well as showing us two real shrunken heads. I was surprised to hear they were real heads and happy to hear it’s not still practiced.
I really enjoyed my food I got at Mama Clorinda's as well as the food that was ordered for the table to share. I think the food was authentic but it was also a good place for tourist to go to because the menu was easy to navigate for non-Spanish speakers. A lot of the food I ate was food that I have already been exposed to like the empanadas and llapingachos and so there was nothing that really pushed me out of my comfort zone. My favorite food I at the dinner was the cheese empanada and the llapingachos with beef.
