I would you characterize Guayasamin's art at both aesthetic and political levels in several ways. For example, his art at the aesthetic level is definitely abstract. However, I am able to depict, in some way or another, what he is trying to accomplish with his works. His art also conveys emotions, much like artist Frida Kahlo. For example, his picture of the mother and the daughter. The picture contains a mother and a girl; the mother protecting the daughter. The painting also shows the strong bond between the mother and the daughter.

At the political level, I can safely say that Guayasamin's art portrays a very deep meaning. For instance, he felt very strongly about slavery; that is, slavery was a terrible and disturbing period in history. Also, Guayasamin's piece of art titled Vietnam portrays the horrid events of the Vietnam bombings. In the painting, there is a women in three different panels; each panel depicting another aspect of the war. For instance, one of the panels depicts the women trying to catch the bombs. A black shadow accompanies the women portraying the fact that it is impossible to escape the bomb.

I feel Guayasamin's art is so important to Ecuadorians because hi work tells stories, shows emotion, and tells of the past. I feel Ecuadorians appreciate how Guayasamin's are appreciates the past culture and allows Ecuadorians to feel emotion through his paintings.

After viewing the photo of Guayasamin's painting of Chilean dictator, Augosto Pinoche, I feel this painting was so central because the painting is rather disturbing. The painting shows the the Chilean dictator hanging by a noose, and covered in blood. If I were a Chilean, I would find this very offensive.
