The artisan market in Quito is a metaphor for Ecuadorians because the entire city of Quito is one big market. By this, I mean that Quito offers so many types of markets, the artisanal market is just one of many options in Quito.
After visiting the kids at ñeque mas ñeque, learned many things. For example, I learned that the children are very grateful to have the students visit them. They enjoy the company of others as well as the interaction between students of different race. I also saw the type of living conditions around the school. The conditions are much different than the conditions in the U.S. With regards to the type of service I performed at Neque, I can definitely say that the service was self-fulfilling. What I mean by this is that the reward of helping students was far greater than I ever could have imagined. I loves working with the students to help them, play with them, and most of all, allow me to communicate inter-culturally.
Cooking with my professors was fun and I learned a lot. This was a type of intercultural communication because even though I couldn’t understand everything the professors told me, I was able to watch their gestures; a form of nonverbal communication. It was very entertaining and enjoyable to cook with my processors. I am truly going to miss my profesora Vi. I absolutely loved her. She was kind, patient, and most of all, I learned a lot from her. I hope I can stay in touch with her.
