City tour
My favorite part of the city tour was definitely la compana because of the detail and amount of gold that was actually in the building. It was absolutely amazing. I wish I could have photos, but they would not even come close to giving it justice. I have been in many churches and such around different parts of the world, and none of them even come close to how beautiful this one was.
One thing that I learned was how Ecuador got its independence. I didn't know that the United States and England actually encouraged or gave them the courage to actually over throw their government. I also like that we were standing in the room where the first Declaration of Independence was signed and saw the tombs. I never knew what catacombs looked like until today.
The thing I found most interesting was how it took 10 years to restore all the paintings and gold in la compana. I fell in love with that place. I can't imagine how much work actually went into it. It definitely took well over 10 years to build and acuite all of the gold. That place is probably worth more than I can imagine as well.
