City Tour
My favorite part of the city tour was being about to see the different types of architecture within the churches. I really enjoy learning about the history of art and architecture, so it was very exciting for me to see such elaborate art and architecture in person. I feel as if learning about the history behind the art of the city helped me to learn and to understand more about the culture of the city.
I learned about the close connection the United States had with Ecuador gaining its independence as a country. I did not realize that Ecuador had that close of a connection with the United States and had, at that point in time, admired the way the United States gained independence. I also learned a lot about how Ecuador came to be a country, which I found to be very interesting as well.
Honestly, the thing that surprised me the most during the city tour was the way that people drove. Everything seemed so chaotic but all flowed very well. For how disorganized it seems to be, there were no accidents that we saw. I was definitely surprised at how fearless all of the drivers here are, it is not something that I was expecting and it is something I am still getting used to.
