Coming Home

I’m not too excited to be returning to the US, as I really wish I had been able to spend more genuine time in Ecuador. I feel as if there are many more things I did not get the opportunity to do or to see. However, I am excited to be able to have a shower with water pressure, since that is something that frustrated me during my stay in Ecuador. I am also excited to give my gifts to my family and to tell them about my experiences, so that they can somewhat live those experiences through me.
There are so many things I am going to miss about Ecuador, especially the people. I met some genuine people who helped me to gain a new perspective on life in a different country. I felt very welcomed by them and as if I was a real part of the community. I am also going miss some of the foods, especially the fruits. I won’t miss ceviche, but so many of the things I tried were exciting and delicious. I’ll miss the view of the mountains and the excitement of being able to speak Spanish daily. One of the biggest things I’ll miss is being part of a family and being able to say that I’m going home to have dinner with my family. It’s not something that I get to say anymore and having the opportunity to feel like I was an important part of the family was a lot of fun.
