From the ballet, I really could understand how deep their culture was.  I couldn’t quite understand everything that was going, but they made it very obvious that there were many things that they celebrated.  I really liked the story of the deer hunters because that was by far the most easy story to follow.  When not considering the story, I really enjoyed the part with the ribbon.  Using the many ribbons coming from a pole, they danced around it in many different patterns and almost ended up with a teepee looking structure in the end.  It was very cool to watch.  I took a way this story of how things can get all messed up or tangled together, and with the right choices and movements we can fix them or untangle ourselves.

Dance serves as a universal form of nonverbal communication because there is no verbal communication.  Dance is this form of expression that can vary all over the world but can be used for the same reasons.  There is so much talent and energy that can go into these skills that dance is often difficult to not be captivated by.  Dance is so universal though, because we all have these expressions that no matter where you go they are the same.  Dance is a way to take these expressions to the next level and a long with music stories with feelings and emotions and be portrayed.  In the case of the ballet, the dance that was easiest for me to understand was the one with the deer.  People were obviously dressed as deer, but they encompassed many of the movements and actions that deer commonly have.  They didn’t have to walk out with English to tell me that this was a story about deer hunting, they simply showed me instead with costumes, movements, and music.
