1) What were the rewards of interacting with the kids at Neque y Mas Neque?
I feel the innocence of the child. Especially when I look at their eyes, I feel the purity inside of them. I love and enjoy this program a lot because helping others is very meaningful. There is a folk adage in China “Roses given, fragrance in hand.”
I was not a person who really love kids before, but maybe because I am going old, I found that I really like to play with kids. It is a change of me that I noticed during I interacting with them.
2) What were the challenges you encountered when connecting with the kids, and how did you overcome these challenges?
I felt a little bit nervous when I first got in the classroom, but I was lucky that there is a lovely girl came and hugged me, which made me felt so warm. Because I don't no too much Spanish, so it's hard to communicate with them, and I can felt some kids felt wired about it. I also felt that some kids didn't want to play game with me, maybe it due to my skin color is alien to them, and probably they never saw the Asian people before. But it is fine, I can totally understand that. In this case, I am actively playing games with them, and smell a lot to them. Smelling is the best language for them, I think.
