1) What did you learn about Ecuadorian culture from the folkloric ballet? What were your favorite parts and why?
They are using the dancing to record the life, which is a very unique way to show what they express the life. I like the part of people mimics the deer. It is very interesting to see the people dancing like that. They are very vivid that perfectly show the local hunting scene. I think the folkloric ballet makes me understand the Ecuadorian culture better and know more details about their daily life. It is very cool!
2) How does dance serve as a universal form of nonverbal communication?
I've always thought that dance is a great way to communicate, and it doesn't require language to show what you want to say. It can communicate well through body movements. And also, it is very interesting that different culture has their own style of dancing. For example, in China, we have 56 ethnic groups, each of them has their own dance. Even they are different but we still can understand the meaning. Dancing includes too much information; it is a good nonverbal communication.
