The Journey Home - Caitlin
Ecuador has been an amazing experience. I have loved being here and would love to stay longer. It is so beautiful and vibrant. There are so many things to do and places to go. I will miss being in the middle of everything and being around so many different people. Being back in Michigan I won’t use my Spanish nearly as much as I do now, which is really sad. My Spanish skills have increased tenfold in the two weeks we have been here, I don’t want to lose those abilities.
Although I will miss Quito and the Ecuadorian people, I do miss things at home. I miss my parents and friends, and especially my dog. I am also ready to be away from all of the tempting food. As good as it is, I am ready to go back to my diet so I feel better. I miss some of the food, many of the foods I miss I can’t have, but I’m ready to go back to gluten and dairy free mac and cheese, and I really want some gluten free chicken nuggets. I’m ready for my own bed and the brand new couch at the AGD house. I just want to curl up on the big sectional and take a nap after watching Fixer Upper and eating a tub of dairy free ice cream. I’m very excited to go home and give the gifts I bought for my friends and family. I’m ready to have my entire closet at my disposal and plenty of clean clothes. I’m excited for my shower at home and definitely the bathrooms. I cannot wait to use a toilet like normal. I will miss Quito, my host family, Patty, and all of the things I have become accustomed to here, but in a way I am also ready to go home.
