I volunteered in China before to teach kids in the kinder garden. However, compared to this experience with kids at Neque y Mas Neque, I felt totally different and learned a lot from it. I am very impressive about the time we just entered the classroom that all the kids were coming to us and gave each of us a hug. I heard that they are the kids whom do not have their families token care sometime--and this is the reason they are at Neque y Mas Neque. I was impressed by them because even though I barely speak any Spanish, I can really understand their emotions without words. They have the desire of being loved in their eyes. I know sometimes language plays an important role during the communication of people, but without verbal communication, individuals are still be able to communicate through body language and facial expressions. These lovely kids greatly prove it for me.
However, as I mentioned that I did not understand their language, Spanish, I felt their emotions but still cannot talk with them. I only can give them a smile and said "hola" and that's all. Furthermore, when they asked for my name, I did not understand their question. Fortunately, at that time, I had other classmates like Sam and Carly near me so I asked them what those kids were saying. And later on, I played with kids with one or two classmates together so that I can ask for their help when I need to communicate with the kids.
